The Working Principle and Application Advantages of Offset Printing Technology

Offset printing is one of the most commonly used printing technologies in the modern printing industry. Its working principle is based on the incompatibility of oil and water. The graphic areas on the printing plate are oleophilic and hydrophobic, while the non-graphic areas are hydrophilic and oleophobic. During the printing process, the plate first contacts the water roller, allowing the non-graphic areas to absorb water, then contacts the ink roller, enabling the graphic areas to adhere to the ink, and finally transfers the image to the substrate via the rubber blanket.

Offset printing technology offers advantages such as high printing quality, excellent color reproduction, and fast printing speed, making it particularly suitable for large-volume printing tasks. Additionally, offset plates have strong print resistance, making them ideal for long print runs, and the printing costs are relatively low. Currently, offset printing is widely used in the production of various printed materials such as books, magazines, and packaging boxes, making it an indispensable technology in the commercial printing field.
