A complete color management system includes three core components: device characterization, color space conversion, and color matching.

Implementing color management first requires characterizing input devices (such as scanners, digital cameras), display devices (monitors), and output devices (printers, printing presses) to generate ICC profiles. Then, through the color management module, color space conversion is performed, transforming device-dependent colors into the device-independent Lab color space, and then converting to the target device's color space. Effective color management can significantly reduce proofing times, improve production efficiency, and ensure color consistency between printed materials and design drafts.
